Problem:
Military aviators, schedulers and Safety Personnel face tremendous challenges dealing with the cost of fatigue, both in life and material. The estimated cost to the Air Force alone over the last three years due to fatigue-related mishaps is $500k.
Solution:
Macrosystems developed FlyAwake, an online application that provides simulated prediction for identifying and mitigating fatigue in work schedules. It launched successfully in June 2008 and has received such positive recognition to the extent that the Defense Safety Oversight Council (DSOC) invested to build version 2.0. This fully functioning Rich Internet Application (RIA) harnesses all the power of the browser to deliver a truly "application" feeling interactive experience. In this latest incarnation, the focus is shifted from analyzing fatigue to providing tools to stop fatigue where it starts.
