Problem:
The Secretary of the Air Force directed implementation of OSHA VPP throughout the Air Force in March 2006. The Secretary indicated that VPP would provide the focus to develop "best-in-class" safety and occupational health. Successful VPP implementation relies on cross functional participation. Units and organizations with large industrial workforces (for instance, Maintenance, Logistics and Civil Engineering) must assume the active leadership role in order to implement the VPP. Unions must be engaged and participate as full partners. In order to achieve active participation across the board, the Air Force Safety Center sought development of an online portal for engagement, sharing and latest news across MAJCOMS and bases.
Solution:
Macrosystems built AFVPP.org in order to provide a single point solution for VPP engagement across the Air Force. As part of the effort, the system was built in order for nationwide MAJCOMS and bases to share documents, track progress and learn more about VPP events. In addition, Macrosystems provided a full CMS framework for the Air Force Safety Center so that AFSC staff could manage content and users across the site.
